Scholarship Program

Unfortunately, construction can be a very dangerous line of work. Despite all training and precautions, accidents do still happen from time to time.

Facing that reality, LECET offers a college scholarship for dependents of LiUNA members who have been killed or permanently disabled as a result of an on the job accident.

“Things have been hard since my accident. I can’t work the same job anymore, but still need to find ways to provide for my family and get my kids off to the right start in life. Education is very important, so I’m extremely happy LECET was able to help us out through their scholarship program. Alexandra is doing great at college and I’m so happy LECET could help us pay for it.”

This is our small way of trying to ease the burden on a family that has suffered that type of tragedy.

Since we started the program in 2007, we have awarded 7 different individuals with $35,000 worth of scholarship money.

“I’m so grateful for LECET’s scholarship program. Helping out families that have gone through something like a death or disability shows that they are there to help the members who need it most. I’m loving college and know it’s going to set me on the right path. The LECET scholarship has made it easier for me to afford it.”
